Harbour Seals, Photo By Robert LoganThe shores of Vancouver Island have a very diverse population of marine animals and plants. Whale watchers, naturalists, biologists and beachcombers journey here from all over the world to enjoy the natural wonders of Vancouver Islands shoreline, both above the surface and by divers below the surface.Pacific Whitesided Dolphins

The warm climate here is a result of warm ocean currents that support many thousands of plants and animals, from plankton to the blue whale and every type in between.

OrcaThere are giant octopuses here along with ferocious looking wolve eels that will eat from your hand and sea lions and seals along with all the fishes and otters.

Just take a walk along the shore and see for yourself, or look at a tide pool at low tide and see just how many different creatures you can spot.

Vancouver island has a variety of marine life in the ocean that surrounds it. There are many year round marine residents, plus many more that visit here through out the year. Some are very large like the Whales and some are smaller like the Otters.

They fill our seas with such color and form that you are overwhelmed with it all. You can start to get acquainted with the ocean just by looking for Sea Lions, Seals or whales when your at the beach.

The next time your by the ocean, stop and take a look, it might just amaze you.
