Vancouver Island has such a variety of plants, flowers and bushes, walking in the forest andDevils Club, Photo By Robert Logan open areas can be so pleasing to the eye. I still remember the first time I hiked up to flower ridge in Strathcona Park. It was a breathtaking experience to me. I was just a young man in my late teens. I can still see the meadows so covered in sweetly scented flowers that it looked like fantasy painting from one of the great artists. I was completely overwhelmed  by nature that day.

So go on a nature walk and stop to smell the flowers. The fresh air and exercise will do you good.

We will list as many plants here as we can, this will be an ongoing project as there are so many on the Island.

The Island has many invasive plants that are getting well established here, we have listed some of these.

There are a few poisonous plants on the island with some being very deadly, we have listed them here also.
