Koprino River

Black ScoterKoprino River is located about 10 km from Winter Harbor, Vancouver Island. Anglers will find a variety of fish including Rainbow Trout, Sea Run Cutthroat and Steelhead. You can access Koprino River right off the Koprino Mainline logging road. 

The Koprino River Flows into Quatsino Sound at Koprino Harbor.  The estuary of the Koprino River is an awesome place to view birds. The whole Harbor is a beautiful place to visit, especially by canoe or kayak. The sea life is just Incredible and you will defiantly want to have your camera ready.

Just to the South of Koprino River is the Quatsino Provincial Park. This Park offers some incredible views of the beautiful Quatsino Sound area. The park has some of the largest old growth trees that grow along the Quatsino Sound shoreline. The Quatsino park is found along the popular Quatsino Sound Kayak route and can be a great over night stop or a place to come ashore for a picnic lunch. In the interior areas of Quatsino Provincial Park there is a wilderness lake where visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities like fishing, Swimming or rustic camping.  Quatsino Provincial Park is primarily a marine access recreational park. There are no serviced campsites or trails within the park. Overnight camping is recommended only at the adjacent estuary campsites. This a very beautiful Park and we should keep it that way, so please bring out what you bring in and leave no trace that you were there.Red Breasted Mergansger

 A small campsite managed by Western Forest Products Ltd. Is located in nearby Koprino Harbor. The site has 10 campsites complete with fire places, tables and a pit toilet.
Only surface water from streams or from Koprino Lake is available, which must be boiled, filtered or treated prior to consumption. You can also bring in your own water.

Both the Koprino River and the Quatsino Provincial Park are located on the west coast of northern Vancouver Island on the north side of Quatsino Sound. The park can be accessed from Holberg. From Holberg, head out on the Koprino Bay Main, when you come to the simpson main line logging road, turn left. Then turn right onto the S 200 road and follow it until you reach the park boundary (approximately 30 km from Holberg).

Marine travelers can launch their boats at the Koprino Harbor, which is accessible at the end of the Koprino Main road.
