Vancouver Island has a huge variety of animals that include many reptiles and insects, birds and
slugs, large and small mammals, marine mammals and the fishes.
The Insects have always fascinated me and I could spend all day watching them go about their daily business. The Island has many wild and interesting insects, from trap door spiders to long winged conehead crickets.
The birds that live on and visit the Island are quite varied and very numerous, photographing them is a great pastime and when you get that photo that you have been trying to get, its very satisfying.
The fishing on and around the Island is good, both fresh and saltwater species and the variety of fish in our ocean
is incredible, we are one of the great dive destinations of the world.
The deer, elk and bears are awesome and numerous but the little animals are just as incredible. We have some rare ones too. We have the Vancouver Island Marmot and the Vancouver Island Wolverine for example.
Then there are the Dolphins and Whales, Like the Orca and Humpback Whales or the Grey Whale and sometimes you even get to see Fin Whales.
So come to the Island and bring your camera.
