Horne Lake Park
There are over 1000 known caves on
Vancouver Island and the Horne Lake caves are some of the best of these.
At the Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park you
have the opportunities to visit many of these wondrous underground gems.
The park was created in 1971 at the request
of Vancouver Island caving groups who saw the need to protect theses caves from
Spelunking in the Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park is something everyone should
try at least once in their lifetime.
Guides can lead you through the caves to
discover the world of these incredible caves, or you can explore a few smaller
caves on your own.
The park also offers a Cave and Karst Education Centre that features geology
information, a small museum and fossil display in addition to Canada’s only Cave
90 minute tours into the protected Riverbend Cave are conducted daily from 10 am
to 5 pm from May to September. This tour is designed to teach the geology of the
caves while exploring the larger and easier passageways and is available on a
first-come, first-served basis from 10am to 5pm. 3 hour Adventure trips are
available daily throughout the year. Reservations are required for all tours
