Dawn Stofer

Field, By Dawn Stofer, Denman Island Artist

Dawn Stofer was born in Victoria, British Columbia in 1955. Dawn studied fine art at the University of Victoria, then furthered her education by studying art and education at the University of Calgary in Alberta.

After Dawn finished her studies, she found a great outlet for her creativity working in the film and television industry. She was based in Vancouver until 1996.

After working in the movie business for a number of years, Dawn felt a need to get back to art and she put her entire focus back to painting.

Dawn spent the next two years painting in London England where she found a mentor in the late British painter Guy Roddon with whom she spent time drawing and painting in the south of France.

She then returned to Vancouver looking to establish a home base. She found this on Denman Island where her studio and gallery is open to the public.

Dawns paintings are in many private collections internationally and can also be found at The Avenue Gallery in Victoria, B.C.
